Tudor Manor House wedding in Herefordshire
Set in the rural landscape of Herefordshire, Hellens Manor is a much-loved Tudor/Jacobean home with incredible art, furniture, grounds and beautifully maintained gardens. Initially built by the de Balun family in the 12th Century, it later passed to the Mortimer family, who played significant roles in English history. Throughout its existence, Hellens Manor has been witness to pivotal historical moments, surviving wars and political upheavals. Yet, despite the passage of time, the Manor retains its original charm, characterised by a striking half-timbered façade and mullioned windows that showcase its Tudor charm. Hellens Manor also boasts incredible gardens full of both well-maintained aspects and beautiful wildflowers/meadow areas with a more unkept feel, both of which are the perfect place to take a short post-ceremony stroll as well as host lawn games during a drinks reception for all of your wedding guests.
Held within the Manor are heirlooms of Anne Boleyn,a haunted bed chamber prepared for Queen Mary Tudor, a panelled Music Room adorned with its English Renaissance frieze, paintings by Gainsborough, Van Dyke, Peter Lely and Goya, and the fascinating story of Hetty Walwyn. Meaning you can be surrounded by incredible artwork while you say your wedding toasts and nibble on your canapes. Hellen's Manor is a perfect mix of historic and homely, and it is ideal for those couples who love a venue steeped in heritage and curiosities without grandeur.
Ed & Jane had the most relaxed wedding day at Hellen's Manor. They enjoyed a ceremony in the barn, led in by children's bell ringing, followed by a lawned reception (once the rain had passed) with the rest of their guests before enjoying speeches under the artwork and a fantastic dinner back in the aforementioned barn. There was so much laughter and love between everyone here that it was just a joy to shoot. I hope you enjoy looking through this Hellen's Manor wedding as much as I enjoyed photographing it.
Enjoy,
