Three part liverpool City Centre Wedding
Liverpool, a vibrant city and wholly steeped in history and culture, served as the beautiful backdrop for Rachel & Lewis's wedding day. We began with preparations at the Municipal Hotel, a grand Victorian-era building in the city's heart. Built in the late 19th century to support Liverpool council's growing need for administrative workers, it underwent a multi-million-pound refurbishment in 2023 and now has a second life as a luxury hotel that exudes old-world charm, its ornate façade and elegant interiors including a stunning palm court lobby (reminiscent of the Ned in London), this Hotel provides the perfect city centre setting for the wedding party's pre-ceremony preparations. The municipal Hotel in liverpool also hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions of its own. But that's a story for another day.
After prep, Rachel and Lewis exchanged vows in a ceremony held at Liverpool Town Hall, a stunning Georgian-style building renowned for its stunning architecture. Completed in 1754, the Town Hall bears a history that nods to much of Liverpool's rich maritime heritage and the ornate décor of the ceremony room provided an elaborate backdrop to their wedding vows, surrounded by their closest family and friends. We then enjoyed reception drinks at the town hall itself, making use of their incredible balcony that overlooks Castle Street and right down to Liverpool's waterfront as well as to their next stop. Oh me Oh my.
Following the drinks reception, the bride, groom and all their guests took a short stroll from Liverpool Town Hall, down to Oh Me Oh My, a unique venue within the iconic West Africa House overlooking the River Mersey. Initially built in the early 20th century as the headquarters of a shipping company, the building's rich history is evident in its elegant Art Deco architecture and panoramic views of Liverpool's waterfront. The reception at Oh Me Oh My offered the perfect blend of historic charm and modern touches, where light pours in from the sunset over the river where we took a short stroll along the waterfront with the backdrop of the Liver building and the bustling skate scene unfolding around us - making for some atmospheric photos as the sun disappeared. We then finally returned to Oh Me Oh My for their wedding party.
Rachel and Lewis's wedding day was a fantastic celebration of the city where they met and got engaged 14 years apart. I feel so fortunate to have experienced this wedding and all its historic backdrops across the city of Liverpool.
Enjoy,
