Amii & Tristian’s Fun-Filled Winter Wedding at New House Farm, Lorton

Amii and Tristian’s winter wedding at New House Farm in Lorton was anything but conventional. This creative couple used their day to bring their personalities to life, ensuring every moment was as fun and unique as they are. From hidden Legend of Zelda references to a Hobbit-inspired feast, their day was packed with personal touches, a sense of adventure, and plenty of laughter.

Located right in the middle of Lorton Valley in the Lake District, New House Farm set the perfect scene for their winter celebration. Even on a cold, drizzly day, the dramatic landscape added to the atmosphere, with the misty mountains and rustic charm of the venue making it feel all the more special.

A Ceremony Full of Intimacy & Meaning

The day began with an intimate ceremony for close family, where Amii and Tristian exchanged vows in the warmth of New House Farm’s rustic barn. The barn, with its exposed beams and stone walls, provided a cosy and inviting setting, perfect for a winter wedding. After the ceremony, a few heartfelt speeches followed, adding to the personal feel of the day before the rest of their guests arrived for the drinks reception.

Creating Fun for All

Both working in creative fields—Amii in events and Tristian as a video game developer—the couple was focused on making sure their guests had an unforgettable experience. They didn’t want a cookie-cutter wedding, and their love for fun, games, and their shared interests was woven into the details. For the children attending, Amii and Tristian hid tiny Koroks (from The Legend of Zelda) around the venue for a fun scavenger hunt, keeping them entertained throughout the day.

A standout feature of the reception was a Taskmaster-style challenge that had taken place in the lead-up to the wedding. All the guests had been involved, and instead of traditional speeches during the wedding breakfast, the couple played a video of the challenges between courses. The excitement built throughout the meal, and by the end, they awarded a prize—a wooden spoon—to the winner of their own version of Taskmaster. It was an unexpected twist and kept everyone laughing throughout.

A Hobbit-Inspired Feast

For their wedding breakfast, Amii and Tristian took inspiration from one of their favourite stories, The Hobbit, serving a medieval-style feast. The long tables were brimming with food, creating a relaxed and abundant atmosphere where guests could indulge and enjoy the fun. It was the perfect way to break from the formality of a typical wedding breakfast, keeping things relaxed and in tune with their love of fantasy.

Making the Most of the Lake District

Despite the winter weather, we made the most of the beautiful Lake District setting, with the misty drizzle only adding to the magical atmosphere of the day. The surrounding mountains and the charm of New House Farm provided an atmospheric backdrop for their wedding.

For couples looking for a venue that offers both stunning natural beauty and a cosy, intimate feel, New House Farm is ideal. Amii and Tristian’s wedding showed how you can use creativity to break from tradition, turning your wedding day into something entirely you.

Enjoy,
