Winderemere Motor Boat Racing Club Wedding

Grace and Harry's wedding was all about authenticity. From the start, they made it clear that they didn't want to spend their wedding day feeling like they were performing for the camera. They wanted their day captured as it was, full of genuine moments of connection, whatever they may be. As a documentary wedding photographer, this was absolute music to my ears and I knew they were exactly the kind of couple I love to work with.

The day began at the Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club, a real hidden gem in the Lake District. I'd never even heard of this venue before they enquired, but upon arriving, I instantly knew I wanted to shoot there again and again. Grace and Harry enjoyed getting ready in the historic lake-facing house with their friends and family. It was such a relaxed atmosphere, with stunning views of Lake Windermere setting the tone for the day ahead. I was already feeling excited to head back from the church on it later via boat!

Their ceremony at the church in Bowness-on-Windermere was such a beautiful one, with some seriously pleasing beams and architecture as well as the church space being bright and well lit. If there's one thing I love about a town centre ceremony, too, it's all the bystanders at the church gates waiting to get a glimpse of the couple.

After the ceremony, they led their guests on a boat cruise around Lake Windermere. A much-needed breeze in the 30-degree heat (hottest day of the year) went through everyone's hair as we enjoyed an hour full of laughter with a cold drink or two. With no forced pictures, I was able to capture candid shots of their guests enjoying the scenery, letting them simply enjoy their boat cruise with their friends.

Back at Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club, the reception continued with lots of laughter and plenty of fans. Dinner and speeches were, of course, followed by the cake cutting, first dance, and the cherry on top was a surprise dip in the lake to finish off the evening!

Grace and Harry wanted to remember their wedding day as it happened, genuine, spontaneous, and full of joy. By staying hands-off, they were able to enjoy their day completely, knowing that their memories were being captured in a way that felt true to them. I loved being a part of their wedding day and documenting the moments that mattered most to them.
