Married for Christmas!
My second to last wedding of 2020 that one supposed to be near enough the week of lockdown! Joanna and Martyn postponed their original wedding like many in 2020 and downscaled to a smaller intimate day with just 15. They married at their local church of St James In Carlisle before heading to Ravenstone Manor in Bassenthwaite. "a generous and characterful 19th-century manor and hotel in three hectares of grounds backing onto the foothills of Skiddaw and looking west across the valley to Bassenthwaite lake and the fells beyond."
The hotel itself can be found perfectly nestled within the hills, and, just a short drive from the historic market town of Keswick, where we took a short drive to the day after to enjoy the hilltop views of Suprise View. We had all planned initially to enjoy a fell walk in place of evening coverage - but the bitter cold had made it a little risky! Plus, the last thing you want is to have mountain rescue called out when you're in your wedding attire! So we all braved it the cheats way since you can drive straight up to the top of Surprise View and enjoy a truly spectacular scene without the hike! You enjoy views right over Derwentwater, Keswick, and beyond to Bassenthwaite Lake from the very top.
I can't express how much I have enjoyed being a part of these downscaled weddings, and I feel a real connection to these images when looking back through them! I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed capturing them.
